The only time you should ever look back, it’s to see how far you’ve come.
Join us in taking a look back at the highlights and milestones Bind has achieved over the past four years.
In 2018, Bind Media is born out of paid media expertise. Both founders, Elliot and Eliot, had come from another agency with new ideas and a passion for digital marketing, and so, armed with a can-do spirit and years of experience, created Bind Media from their couches at home.
We joined the Natwest Entrepreneur Accelerator in Bristol, which is a free, six-month programme for entrepreneurs with high-growth businesses who are looking to scale up. The NatWest Accelerator supports and empowers UK entrepreneurs to scale their businesses to the next level.
Wanting to add some new faces to the mix, we hired our first employee, Josh, as Account Executive and Technical Lead. Josh usually spends an ungodly amount of time tangled in deep analytical webs using Google’s suite of web analytics tools such as Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google App Script (to name a few).
Bind moves out of the (although comfy) sofa office and into our first real office in Spaces.
Knowing we want to do our part to create a sustainable future for the planet, Bind teams up with Ecologi to try and reduce our carbon footprint, by planting trees and donating to a broad range of projects that reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
Wanting to further expand the team, we hire the first apprentice, Maddie, through Professional Apprenticeships, as a Paid Media Executive.
We grew to a total of 5 team members with the hire of Dave, a Senior Paid Media Manager.
After a successful year in our new office growing our client base, we turn our attention to making ourselves the best workplace we possible can be. Bind celebrates success, and with the continued commitment toward rewarding the staff, we fly to Prague for a quick getaway. Significant team bonding ensues over sightseeing and some tasty Czech beers.
We’re thrilled to be named as finalists in the Bath Life Awards, for the ‘Business Services’ award, alongside talented businesses such as Serial Trainer 7, Simple Recruitment and Taste of Bath.
Unfortunately, Covid-19 happens and Bind, alongside a lot of other businesses, has to go remote. As an agency working in unprecedented times, we realise we had to be adaptable.
Luckily for us, the majority of our work lent itself to homeworking. We swap face-to-face meetings for Slack and office whiteboards for Whimsical. Unfortunately, some of our clients and peers in the industry weren’t so lucky, so we did our best to support their transition to digital however possible.
Looking to further grow our team, our first creative employee Eva, joins us as Senior Conversion Designer.
At the start of what will prove to be a hugely successful awards season for us, Bind wins the ‘Agency’ category at Creative Bath, being up against great nominees such as Clearly PR, RocketMakers and Storm UK.
We go on to win the Grand Prix at The Drum Awards, scooping a total of 6 Drum awards, making us the youngest agency ever to win.
We won in the following categories; online media buying, analytics, service delivery, client service, effectiveness, online advertising, search, creativity/innovation and optimisation/conversion.
In 2021, we team up with Supermetrics to launch a brand new, stunning Google Data Studio dashboard template for their ‘Ad Data + Analytics’ connector.
With the dreaded continuation of the pandemic, Bind has no choice but to get creative with socials. In our continued effort to reward staff for hard work in unprecedented times and make Bind a fun place to work, we host online events such as murder mysteries over Zoom.
In an effort to give back to the community, we team up with Endometriosis UK for charity work. 1 in 10 women of reproductive age in the UK suffer from endometriosis, a similar number to that of women affected by diabetes.
Despite its prevalence, it takes an average of 7.5 years from the onset of symptoms to receive a diagnosis. There is a desperate need for more funding, research and education on women’s health so that women no longer have to wait years for their symptoms to be recognised and respected. We’re passionate about this cause and proud of our work with Endometriosis UK.
Our successful stream of award entries continues, as Bind wins the ‘Business’ award at Bath Life Awards 2021 against amazing local businesses such as ApexHotels, Bath Marketing and Clearly PR.
We also won 5 awards in The Drum Awards for under 40 staff (Online Media Buying, Online Advertising, Analytics, Optimisation, Client Service).
At this point, Bind decides we need a new, bigger Bind HQ to accommodate the growing team, which now stands at 11. We’ve come a long way since the days of working from the couch!
This year we’ve hired a further 7 new talented employees.
We’re also incredibly proud to be named Google Premier Partner of 2022 and to be rated in the top 3% of Google’s Premier Partners, their highest accreditation given to a select number of agencies who demonstrate consistent growth and adoption of best practices on behalf of clients.
The Google Partner badge shows that you have the latest Google Ads expertise while helping you stand out to clients and the industry – so we couldn’t be more thrilled to have received this incredible accolade.
We continue on our mission to make Bind a fun and inclusive place to work with rewards for our hard-working staff members. We’re delighted to announce that we are now an accredited LivingWageUK employer, meaning we’re committed to paying all staff the real living wage for the real cost of living.
As well as continually improving our offering to our employees, we do our best to keep our clients happy – and it seems to pay off.
As part of The Drum Mag’s deep dive on fast-growth brands, Cat Hartland, head of The Drum Recommends, highlights agencies best recommended by clients for brand strategy. Bind Media is in the top 20 best-rated agencies 🚀
Plus, we’ve been rated the number #1 digital agency in the UK by our clients in the Drum Agency Census.
When it comes to giving back to the community, we take our responsibility seriously. We continue to put sustainability at the heart of our culture, and together with Ecologi, we’ve reduced 121 tonnes of carbon emissions and planted 2,667 trees! 🌳
This year, the annual Bind getaway (which has been postponed a few times due to COVID) finally took off! ✈️ We flew to Budapest and had an amazing few days, summarised by successful team bonding, lovely food (couldn’t get enough of the goulash), and a few cold beers! 🍻 🇭🇺
Here’s to four years more of working hard and taking time to celebrate our successes along the way🥂🎉
