What to Expect: Applying for your next role at Bind Media

From the moment you land on our Careers page to the day you start, we want the experience to feel clear, human, and supportive. No jargon. No guessing games. No awkward silence between stages. Just a straightforward process that helps you decide if Bind Media is right for you, while giving you a fair chance to show what you can do.

We also know companies preach their values, but do they practise them? For us, it has to show up in the details, not just the headlines. A few independent signals help keep us honest, like Great Place To Work reporting that 100% of employees say Bind is a great place to work, Campaign ranking us number 1 in 2024 and number 2 in 2025 for Best Places to Work, and Glassdoor showing a 4.9 rating with 100% of reviewers recommending Bind (based on 10 reviews at the time of writing). We are proud of these, but we do not see them as a finish line. They are a reminder to keep doing the everyday things well.

So, what does it actually look like when you apply?

Here is the journey, step by step, from first click to first day.

Stage 1: You spot a role and start getting a feel for Bind.

You might find our roles on LinkedIn or Indeed, but everything routes back through our website so applications land in one place and are reviewed consistently. There is no “better” way to apply.

Before you hit apply, we always recommend having a quick explore. Not because we expect you to come armed with a presentation, but because the process should work both ways.

Have a look around the website. See the kind of work we do, the way we talk about our craft, and the people behind it. It is the best way to get a feel for whether you could see yourself here.

Stage 2: You open the job ad and notice a few things upfront.

The first thing you will see is the salary banding. We always include it and are committed via ‘We Show the Salary’.

We do it because it is the fair thing to do. It saves time, it helps you make a proper decision early, and it supports transparency. We also support #EndSalaryHistory, which means we are not going to ask what you were paid before, or use that as the baseline for what you should be paid now.

Then you will see a high-level description of the role. What you will do day to day, and what skills you need at that level. There is a helpful role structure diagram too, which helps you get a feel for where the role sits in the progression framework.

You will also notice what we do not do. We are not big on ticking boxes like degrees or years of experience. We hire for potential, capability, and the direction you are heading. We are looking for people who add to the team, not just “fit in”.

One practical tip: if the job ad lists must-have skills, make sure they are clear on your CV. Those are there for a reason. If your experience is slightly different, but you know it translates, a short cover letter can help explain the link, but we do not require one.

At the bottom, you will see our benefits too. We include them because the whole package matters, and we want you to have the full picture.

Stage 3: You apply, and your CV comes to me.

This is usually the point at which candidates wonder what happens next, and whether their application is actually seen.

It is.

I’m Helen, People and Culture Director, and I review all CVs. I look at applications against the role requirements and our internal Bind Growth and Progression Framework, which helps us assess fairly and consistently across levels.

A quick, honest note: sometimes we get a lot of strong applications. In those moments, people who could do the role might not make the shortlist simply because we can only take a small number forward. I would love to give personalised feedback to everyone, but it is not always possible at scale.

If you do make the shortlist, you will hear from me by email, and I will ask you to book a hello at a time that works for you using a handy calendar link.

Stage 4: The screening call (and why we do it).

I like to speak to everyone during the first stage. This is what many companies call a screening call, but for us, it is really about making sure you also have what you need early.

It is a chance for you to ask questions about Bind, the role, the team, how we work, flexibility, progression, and anything else. Recruitment should feel two-way from the start.

It is also where I get to understand your journey properly. My style is to go back a few years and work forward, so I can see your progression, the skills you have built, and the decisions you have made along the way.

If there are gaps on your CV, that is completely fine. People take time out for all sorts of reasons, and there is no judgement. It is part of your story, and it often tells us something useful about what you value and how you operate.

Stage 5: Shortlisting and keeping you in the loop.

After the screening call, we shortlist based on what really matters for the role:

  • The must-have skills for the grade
  • How clearly you communicate
  • Your motivation and alignment with what we do
  • Whether you have taken time to understand Bind

Shortlisted candidates then go to the hiring manager for review. We aim to move quickly, but we also want to be thoughtful.

Either way, you will hear from us. We do not leave people hanging.

Stage 6: Interviews that feel fair (and let you show your best).

If you progress, there are usually two stages.

Stage one is a Q&A interview. It is tailored to the role and focuses on how you think and how you approach real scenarios. Bring notes, refer to examples, and take a second to think. That is all fine.

Stage two is skills-based. Often, there is a short task, but we keep it reasonable. We are not looking for you to spend your whole weekend proving yourself. We want to see your thinking and your approach.

Throughout the process, Helen is your main contact.

We are also a Disability Confident Employer, which means we take adjustments seriously. If you need a different format, extra time, accessibility support, or anything else that helps you perform at your best, tell us, and we will work with you from the start.

Stage 7: The offer call and what happens next.

If we decide to offer, I will call you personally and talk through everything clearly: salary (within the published band), benefits, who you will report to, and next steps.

You will have time to think. We do not want decisions made under pressure.

If you decide to accept, we all skip around the office, then move into onboarding and make sure your first weeks feel organised and supported. Starting a new role is a big change. It should feel like a welcome, not a scramble.

What we hope you feel at the end of the process

If you take one thing away, we hope it is this: the process felt fair, human, and worth your time.

We hope you feel supported by the small things, like being clear on salary, staying in touch, respecting your time, and giving you a proper chance to show what you can do.

We also hope the experience matches the reputation. We are proud of recognition like Great Place To Work, Campaign rankings, and positive Glassdoor feedback, but we see those as accountability. They are reminders to keep building the kind of place people want to be part of.

If you are thinking about applying, we would love to hear from you.

And whether you are successful or not, we want you to leave the process feeling you were treated with care and respect, because that is what you should expect from any company worth working for.
