Analytics Maturity Quiz: How Much Can You Trust Your Data?

Your ad platforms are only as smart as the data you feed them. Give them half the picture and they'll get very good at finding more of the wrong thing.

If you've ever had to explain to the powers that be why three platforms claim the same conversion, or report upwards on numbers you don't fully trust, this is for you.

Our quiz is designed to show you where your tracking, data and measurement stand in about two minutes. Along with your score, you’ll also receive a copy of our Analytics Maturity Framework guide to take you to the next tier.

What you'll get:

  • Your overall score, as well as a breakdown of every pillar
  • The Analytics Maturity Framework guide (covering what each tier looks like and a prioritised checklist with the effort and owner for every step)

What is analytics maturity?

Analytics maturity is how well your business collects, connects and uses its marketing data to make decisions.

The way we see it, this sits on a scale.

At one end, you're looking at standard reports and each platform's own version of events, none of which quite agree. At the other, you're feeding real business value back into your platforms and modelling the outcome of spend before you commit it.

Most businesses sit somewhere in between, and the gap is getting harder to ignore. Visitors decline cookies. Some browsers are shortening how long cookies last. Around 30% of internet users use an ad blocker. The result is black-box reporting, disconnected data and a much harder job proving ROI.

The fix isn't more tools. It's knowing where your setup stands, getting the foundations right and only adding complexity when the data underneath can support it.

Five tiers. Where do you sit?

Our Analytics Maturity Framework maps your setup across five tiers, from seeing what happened to modelling what will happen before you spend.

Foundational

You can see results, but you can't fully trust them. GA4 is close to its default setup, each platform claims its own conversions, and your CRM doesn't talk to your ad platforms.

Emerging

You're tracking the right actions, but not what they're worth. There's a consent platform and some custom tracking, but the setup has grown piece by piece, and you’re connecting CRM data to your ad platforms by hand.

Connected

You can see which campaigns drive real value. Key sales data is flowing back to your platforms through a conversion portal, and you analyse raw data in BigQuery rather than relying on standard reports.

Advanced

You optimise for value and can predict who's likely to convert. Tagging runs server-side, bidding is based on pipeline or margin, and you've tested at least one channel for incrementality.

Visionary

You can model the outcome of spend before you commit it. Marketing mix modelling, incrementality testing and attribution work together, and predicted customer value feeds your bidding automatically.

Most businesses we work with sit between Emerging and Connected. Each tier has a cost and a clear set of next steps, and they're all in the guide you'll get when you finish the quiz.

What the quiz measures, and why order matters.

The quiz looks at five areas of your setup:

  • Tracking and consent - How your site collects data and handles consent, and how much you lose to cookie rejection and ad blockers.
  • Data integration and bidding -  How your CRM connects to your ad platforms, and whether your campaigns chase volume or value.
  • Analytics depth - Whether you're limited to standard reports, or can dig into raw data to understand why people behave the way they do.
  • Attribution and measurement - How you judge what's working and split budget between channels, and whether you've ever tested it.
  • Forecasting and planning - Whether you plan spend by looking back, or by modelling what's likely to happen next.

The pillars build on each other. Value-based bidding can only be as good as the conversion data behind it, and attribution can only be as good as your tracking. That's why the quiz scores each pillar separately and advises you what to look at first.

Want a closer look?

The quiz is based on your own answers. An analytics audit is our team looking at your actual setup.

Our Data Intelligence & Measurement team work alongside our paid media specialists every day, so the audit looks at how your data shapes your campaigns, not just whether your tags fire. We'll review:

  • your tracking and consent setup, and how much data you're losing
  • how your CRM, ad platforms and offline conversions connect
  • how you measure performance and split budget

You'll come away with a prioritised roadmap your marketing and development teams can act on.
